A list of things to look for when buying or maintaining a triple

1 Second Gear Jumps Out Was a big problem on early xs750's but seemed to be cured by the release of XS850. If it oly slips occasionally, then a simple shimming trick can be done without splitting the engine cases.
2 Fixed beam headlights are hard to find Early models had fixed beam headlights, meaning that the lens required replacement if one filament blows Later models (1978-79) have a halogen headlight with standard "H" type bulbs fitted. Buy a used lens and surround
3 Fuel tanks too small Fuel tanks can be around 17-18 litres on standard bikes. Later 750's and all 850's in europe had 24 litre tanks that fit straight on. Buy one and change it out. Make sure you get the fuel taps as they are slightly different, but onld one will fit if needed.
